Dan:
I like Heliopan and Hoya polarizers, including the Moose polarizing filter.
If you think you may have a problem with vignetting, you can get a 77mm filter and use a step ring, or as you mentioned a thin polarizer.
Vignetting used to be common, but was pretty much eliminated, that is until some of the new DX lenses became coming out. I've noticed some of them have brought back vignetting.

Too much stuff to mess with. I'd rather spend my time shooting. I always carry enough media cards to hold more than I'll shoot and have never had a problem getting them home and into the computer or backing them up before needing to reformat the cards. I just don't want to be bothered with all that stuff while I'm out shooting. Denis

I just got mine about two years ago, but I love it and use it as much as I do my newer F5.

I have an F4, F5, D100, D200, as well as other cameras, but I find the F100 is the one I use most often.

I know what has been said about the D100, that the D70 and D50 cameras have both out dated it and all. But even though I bypassed both those and now have a D200, I still find that I shoot as often or more with the D100 and am just as happy with my results.

Those scam adds shouldn't even be on this forum. Makes one wonder. But yes, any low cost D200 is a scam. If it's not listed around $1700 run away fast, they're out to get you.

Personally, I like heavy cameras, although the D200 is no lightweight. If I could have afforded it, I would have gone with the D2X over the D200 in a heartbeat just for the quality of construction and longevity of the camera.

Reviews I've seen are all good also, considering this is a wide focal ranged lens. Having to settle at the time for the 18-70mm lens to get my D200, I'll not get the 18-135mm, but wish it had been available at the time.

It's fine for those who like it, but I just don't see it. Lensbabies make no sense to me. Denis

I'm also in Missouri (Kansas City). I turned 60 this year and have been into photography for some 50 years to one degree or another. First SLR was a Petri, moved up to Konica, and now primarily use Nikon SLRs, which include FE2, FM3A, N60, N65, N80, F100, F5, D100, and D200.
I'm primarily a landscape and nature photographer.

If I could only pick one, it would be the 50mm f/1.8 AFD. I think it's a bit sharper than the f/1.4 and it will work on both manual and autofocus cameras.

I'm anxiously awaiting this lens. Rumored for some time, this film and digital vibration reduction lens has long been wanted and desired. I hope it lives up to the expectations. And, it's great that Nikon has not forgotten about its film users.

This is another third party lens I have been very happy with. Very good picture quality and a very useful focal range. I mostly use it with my film cameras, but it does even better on digital. Just wish it was a little wider when used with a digital SLR. :-)

This has fast become my favorite Tamron lens. For a lens that reashes out to 500mm, I'm greatly impressed with the photo quality of this lens, at this price. It has surpassed my expectations.
