Yes, well done Chris. It will make a nice change from those Yahoo forums! Thanks for your efforts to get me registered. My fault, all Nikon emails were filtered to another directory. Now all is well and I'm here.

Chris, I'd like to hear some of the ideas you have to differentiate this forum from another well known Nikon forum. This is not meant as a put down, but rather where you want to go with this and what can we do to help.
I'd like to know more about your background in Nikon photography. This is about sharing knowledge to help us grow as photographers, whether amateur or professional. I've been a member of a specific acoustic guitar forum since 3 months after it started. I was one of the first 200 to join back in March of 2001. We now have 9,000 members. Our members range from the rank beginner looking for his (or hers!) first acoustic guitar to the top guitar builders in the world. We have no competition in our niche of acoustic guitars. There isn't anything you can't find out about guitars on this forum, if you wait a few days.
As for my background, I'm currently medically retired. I was into photography in the 70's and 80's, shooting 35 mm Minoltas. I put them away when my job as a Teamster carhauler kept me very busy, but not too busy to start a family, which took up any free time I had!! On theadvice of my doctors, I needed a hobby and took up acoustic guitar, playing with the Praise group in our Church. As my condition changed, I found playing very uncomfortable, so I dug up my cameras and started shooting again. Mostly my daughters, though. One is a dancer and the other plays fast pitch softball. Talking to one of my friends on the guitar forum, I decided to sell him one of my guitars and I took in a Nikon D70 as a partial trade. I've since gone nuts with NAS!! It's no different than GAS (guitar aquisition syndrome).
I shot all the F1 races at Watkins Glen in the 70's except for 78. I like macro, motorsports, lightning and fireworks photography. I am hooked on digital and I'm always trying to find way to get more gear!!! I'm just grasping the basics of post production work in Elements and PS 7.0.
I look forward to learning from and contributing to this forum. I wish you sucess on your adventure. I hope we have a great time together.
Dave

I have many plans for this forum, and want to make it the center of everything. Which brings me into what else will be a part of AllNikon. The other parts will be reviews, book links/reviews, photo blogs, photographers galleries. This will all be presented via the blog that I will be putting up (still in the works). But overall a huge database of references. But it will be built to what the members of the forum would like to see, and what I can provide. I will be soon asking the visitors what they would like to see. Thats the most important part, what you and I want to see on the site/blog and forum. If you have any suggestions please tell me as well as anyone also who reads this.

Chris - thank you for the invitation to your new forum. As an amateur, I think it's a little less intimidating to get in at the start of something new. I like what you have done here and it looks like you have some incredible ideas that we will all benefit from. I look forward to being involved! Katherine www.primalucephotos.com

I look forward to seeing those plans develop. There are many discussion forums on the web for photography in general and Nikon in particular but each has its own character and I am sure this one will to.
Best wishes to all involved.
