Sometimes I despair of ever becoming any good at photography. I am not a natural; I don't see the thirds, the triangles, etc. without effort. However, and this is probably more important than anything else, it gets me out of the house and I enjoy it. Like many people, I have dabbled over the years. Now in my 40's I have focused on developing my photography into a proper hobby. Three years ago, I bought a new cheap 35mm camera - sorry, not a Nikon (I will get there) - from Pentax (the oddly named *ist). I went on holiday to Prague and had great fun and was pleased with the results. However, as a fully qualified geek, I could not resist the call of the DSLR world. So I got the DSLR version of the *ist, the *istD! Every so slowly I get more photos that I like: Three years on and with a slowly improving balance between p&s images and photographs and my wife has taken over the *istD (she has much smaller hands) and bought me a Nikon (told you) D200. Fantastic. Now I am really having fun. I am still a little envious of those who have a natural eye for forms, shapes, colours, etc. but I am happy to plod along learning from others in a forum like this. At least I am in an especially nice part of the world: www.virtual-shropshire.co.uk/ with lots of things to photograph. Stuart
