I put my Infrared work flow in the IR section with more detail. But my basic work flow goes as such. Camera>Picasa>Nikon Capture 4.4>PS as 16bit>PSD>JPG Picasa may not be the most flexible(labeling and such) software, but it is very fast, and can handle huge amounts of files quickly. All I use it for is finding files and previewing then really quickly. Once and awhile i will do the odd quick edit that i dint care enough about to do in PS. I use Nikon capture over adobe raw, because it has far better recovery of shadows. The D Lighting features puts adobes shadows and highlights to shame. Although adobe has better highlight recovery. Yes I save both a NEF, unflattened 16bit PSD, and JPG. I treat the NEF as a digital negative, so I never delete these. The PSD carrys all my edits, I have a very non destructive work flow with lots of layers, so by never flattening the psd I can always come back and edit stuff later. This method does take allot of space close to 200MB sometimes, but hard drives are cheap and I am in no short supply of space I have a close to a terabyte in my main system and have a TB in my backup server.
