Just wondering if we have any D1-D1H or D2H users here I know they are a little dated now by todays cameras. But IMO they still very capable and able of producing the goods. And they offer metering with a vast amount of cheap s/h used MF lenses. What's your opinion if any? Do you own or use one these obsolete models?

Yes I´m using a D2H. And I have enough money to buy myself a D2XS. But why?
Last years I see more and more camera’s with more tricks. But when I look into the photo archive from? Say about 30 years back. Take for example some year books from Time Life / NG etc. I think photo gear improved in the last 30 years for over 500% maybe 800% maybe more! But It´s a sad conclusion that photo´s didn’t improve at all!
Don´t let ANYBODY spoil your day by thinking you need another camera. If someone has a few tips to improve your photo skills? Please take them with both hands, normally the tips are free!

Until 5 months ago, the original D1 was the ONLY camera I used. It has now been upped to two D1X's AND an F5.
It will probably be a long time before I'll change the D1X's out.
And I will NEVER sell or go completely digital as long as there a film available
Quantity = digital Quality/preservation = analog

I shoot a D2x and a D1x and stopped pushing film about 8 months ago. I now put a roll through my F, F2, F3, F4, F5 and FA bodies about twice a year to keep them in operation. I have no intention to get the D2xs but reserve judgement on future bodies.

I recently picked up a D1H in pretty good shape for $410. on an ebay auction. I got very tired of my Lumix FZ-10 not being able to follow a moving subject and still squeeze off shots. The Lumix had a good lens (12x optical Leica @2.8 across the entire range) but like most all point and shoot cameras had a small sensor (with the typical noise) and of course, no optical viewfinder. The electronic viewfinder was really poor in low light, another point of irritation. Now that I have stepped up to a DSLR, the learning curve is in front of me; hopefully this forum will help get me up to speed.

I have a D2H, a D100, a D70 and a D200. Like the others on this list, I have now almost stopped using film entirely. I enjoy the D2H as a sturdy, reliable, fast camera. Like the others, while I can afford a D2Xs, I see no reason to upgrade given the D2H and the D200. In addition, I agree with Ken Rockwell, who noted on his web page, that given the rate of change in technology, you are better served by investing in good glass rather than very expensive cameras that will become obsolete quickly.
Digital, for me, has been the cause of an upsurge in interest in photography. I find myself thinking about shots more and exploring and deleting any shots that don't measure up.
I look forward to hearing the comments of the group and to learning more about digital photography.

I confess to still using the heck out of a pair of D1's. I suppose once they die off I'll be forced to "get modern" but these guys are still quite capable. Depends on what your end use is, of course, but I have been very well served by my D1 pair.

Just wondering if we have any D1-D1H or D2H users here I know they are a little dated now by todays cameras.[...] I still use D1 for volume material for web display. Delays. speed, frugal LCD displays, noise, ... some aspects seem so retro, but as a system capable of tractoring through large series (plural) of shots, I find it useful (where resolution is adiquate). I use mostly with EH-4, but go mobile too using D1x BatteryBarn power (EN-4) too.
