Hi Joey, Have a look at some of the pictures I have taken with mine. I think it's a brilliant lens and use it more than I thought I would. www.pbase.com/rogertv/fisheyeRegards Roger Richards

I got the chance to check it out at the PhotoPlus Expo in NYC last year. I was interested in how Nikon capture would use the fish eye feature to make it a ultra wide angle. I took some shots with my camera and brought it home to test it. I found it to be no different than whats available in photoshop plug ins. That's just my opinion using my eye. I opted to buy the less expensive 3rd party 8mm lens and use photoshop to straighten it out. I'm happy with my setup and the money I saved. Before you start bashing me for using a non Nikon lens that is the only non Nikon lens that I own. It seemed to me that their is so much distortion in those lenses at that range that good glass doesn't matter. And if you want something other than the fish eye look you are going to be fixing it on the computer anyway.

I just checked out Roger's site. That "fisheye" looks like one heck of a fun lens.

My wife bought me a 10.5 in June for my birthday. This lens is a lot of fun and produces some great photos. I've used it for landscapes, people and some construction photography. I would recommend this lens to anybody looking to change their outlook on everyday objects. I can't post any pictures now but will try to do so later.

I've had mine for about a year now. LOVE IT. Have some fun with it and take pictures of people's faces up close. It will bring a chuckle.

I looked at adding this lens to my outfit earlier this year. I already own Nikon AFD 16mm f/f fisheye and still have my Sigma 15mm MF equivalent lens, but I wanted something wider for my digi slr. In the end I went for Sigma's 10mm-20mm Hsm lens and have had no regrets what so ever. Getting back your question had I not got the other fisheye lenses then I would definitely have purchased the Nikon 10.5mm DX by all accounts it's a cracking lens.

The "Photography and the Art of Seeing" by Freeman Patterson, "a visual perception workshop for film and digital photography," is one of the best books about photography I know, probably the best book about photography I have.
That book is helping me to see thing in a new way and express (by an image) my feelings about what I saw; it is helping me not simply look at the things around me, but to see what things express, how they express it and how I respond to that expression.
The 10.5 mm fish eye DX lens is not only a fun lens to use, but even more importantly, it lets one to see and express things and feelings in a way impossible with other lenses. Of course it is not the only lens I use. However, in my experience and opinion, the 10.5 mm fish eye lens leads to pictures I could not create by processing images obtained by "normal" lenses later in the Photoshop.
May I highly recommend that you get and use the 10.5 mm fish eye DX lens?
Regards, Lubos
