Not sure if I'm posting this in the right thread, sorry if I haven't.
I have posted a message to a couple of mailing groups that I belong to but I thought I would also post it here just to see if I can get anymore advice....
I'm a very simple camera user never had external flash for anything only used the built in flash and upto now that's been adequate but now I have my nephews wedding next year to think about so I have no idea what to buy or what not to buy I know flash units ect have been discussed in length but
someone has suggested getting the Stroboframe has anyone else got this one, I'm also puzzled about what flash unit you can use on it. Can you buy any and it will fit? Which would you recommend? I guess what I'm asking is can
someone please tell me with beginning from scratch what equipment do I need to be able to have everything (bracket, flash ect) that would fit a Nikon D200 and the Sony Alpha 100.

Hi Linda,

I use a stroboframe on my Nikons when I shoot events. Moving the flash off the camera reduces red-eye, and produces more pleasing results. My flash bracket also allows me to flip the flash when I shoot verticals so that the flash is always over the lens, thus eliminating the annoying side shadows.

If you want to use the full capabilities of your camera/flash combo, you'l need to use the appropriate, dedicated flash for your camera. And if you do that, you'll need to buy the matching remote sync cord for your camera/flash combo.

I'm not current on the latest Nikon offerings, so I can't tell you which flash is the latest for your D200 (SB-800?). Maybe someone here can supply that information, or go to your Nikon dealer to find out.

Linda, I use a Stroboframe with my SB-600. I connect it with my sc-17 cord that I had from my film camera days...I too suggest it for events..One big advantage is that it places shadows down behind your subject so they are not as harsh
