hi all, i am new to the group. my interest is in making images of my mineral collection to get those very tiny details of mother nature's finest creations. just got a russian MBS-10 trino microscope and want to connet it with my Coolpix 8700. researching the internet i needed to learn that there are no straight forward adapters on the market to fit for my needs. the adapters i found on the internet are either too flimsy, to expensive (because incl. an extra eyepiece) or seem too dodgy (constructionwise) to me. does anyone have any clue how to connect the CP to the microscope in a "moneywise reasonable" way? here are the details of the micro: at the "third eye" the foto tube is an outside thread of 42 mm in diameter and the inside diameter of the foto tube is 36 mm. the micro came with an additional set of eyepieces to insert in the trino tube. is there any adapter (like a eg some sort of a tubus) to get from the 52 mm thread of the CP to the 42 mm of the trino foto tube? or has somebody a better solution or any solution at all? any help is very much appreaciated! -wildbrush-

I took an extra eyepiece, measured the thread pitch of my CP4500 lens, and turned and threaded the eyepiece to fit the camera. You could do this and simply insert the camera/eyepiece combo into the third tube.

hi eyeclinic, thanx for the very appr. replay. given the theoretical fact that i would follow your advise - that leaves me with one major question: how do i connect than a 32 mm (than) threaded eyepiece into the 52 mm inner thread of the coolpix 8700 ? wildbrush
